Week 2: Continuing and Refining the Creative Process

This week has involved a whole lot of trial and error! I began by sifting through the ideas and melodies I had developed the week before, and finding the ones that really stood out to me. The melodies that stuck in my head for days afterward, and that I could remember long after I had left the piano, were the ones that I continued to refine.
In order to better understand and listen to my own melodies from the perspective of another, I set up a make-shift home recording studio (shown above). While the recordings and quality of the vocal tracks from this setup are far from adequate for a final product, they are perfect for listening back to and analyzing. Through this process, I was able to narrow down and refine the ideas into something more coherent and listenable. I was also able to pin down an arrangement and overarching melody line for several different pieces of music, which I can later craft into either one, or several songs depending on the decisions made in the pre-recording process.
Through this week's trial and error of arranging lyrics/melody and creating alterations in both, I have narrowed down and shaped many of my ideas into coherent pieces of music, allowing room for necessary adjustments and changes to be made both this week, and in the weeks to come.
